Can we really save America?

The more truth I find out about the federal government and the damage they have done to this country, the more I begin to wonder if we can really save America.  535 politicians – plus 1 in the White House and 9 members of the Supreme Court rule our country and frankly they have put us into quite the black hole.  I’m talking about both parties over many, many years.  This behemoth mess we call the United States government didn’t happen overnight and didn’t happen at the hands of just one party.  We have massive regulations, massive federal government programs, massive federal government workers, massive debt, massive deficit and no one seems to want to reel any of that it to straighten it out and get it under control.  Oh everyone likes to talk a good game about cutting spending and keeping taxes low but none of them really do it.  Bush cut taxes but not spending.  Obama is increasing taxes and has increased spending.  Everyone likes to talk about the Clinton surplus but that’s a myth.  Reagan accomplished many great things but he still didn’t cut massive federal departments like he said he would.  Forget Carter, that was just some type of Twilight Zone presidency.  Truth is that our federal government is wildly out of control and they could care less what we, the people think because they are no longer afraid of us and haven’t been  in decades.

“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny” – Thomas Jefferson

We are a country of over 300 million people being ruled by only 545 men and women.  How in the hell did we allow them to turn this country into the ginormous federal government monster that it has become?  Americans hate monopolies but we allowed the federal government to become the biggest monopoly in the world.  We stood by and didn’t stop the insanity while it was happening.  We didn’t do anything when they took away little bits and pieces of our freedoms or asked for more taxes or fees to redistribute to others.  A little at a time, the federal government has eroded America and Americans.  Only 51% of people pay federal income taxes in this country.  That is absolute insanity!  51% of the people in this country pay for the entire federal budget which includes foreign aid, cushy pensions for federal workers, freebies for the slackers who refuse to work and keep having more babies, illegal aliens to have babies and be educated, a public education system that is worse than pathetic, free medical care for some people and the greatest military on Earth that is sent all over the world but not protecting our own borders.  I could go on and on about the ridiculous things that only 51% of the taxpayers in this country pay for but you either already know or you get the point.  We have become a society of sloths.  Whether we are the hard-working sloths who pay the bills or the sloths who just lay around all day, that is what we’ve become.

“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” – Abraham Lincoln

The big federal government growth and state dependency on the feds started under the worst president in the history of this country – Franklin Delano Roosevelt.   It was FDR who put the first giant federal entitlement program into place.   It was FDR who started handing out federal dollars to states, with strings attached of course.  Before FDR, people and states took care of themselves and each other no matter how bad times got.  The federal government has done nothing but grow and grow and grow ever since.  Why didn’t anyone stop it?  Why did Americans fall so far from what America’s Founding Fathers fought so hard to create?  There are a million reasons that I can come up with as excuses but none of them are ‘excusable’.  Americans lost their way many years ago and we still haven’t found the way back.  Oh sure there are a ton of people who are waking up and fighting back.  The Tea Parties, conservative organizations, Independent organizations and conservative activists are all fighting for the truth and to seek the changes that need to be made but will it work?  These people represent a very small portion of the 300 million people in the United States.  We must reach the entire country in order to install real change before it’s too late.  Can we do it?

All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.” – Thomas Jefferson

How many people do you know who don’t vote?  How many people do you know who have zero clue who Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner or Harry Reid are?  How many people do you know who simply watch the 3 main ‘news’ stations – ABC, NBC and CBS for their ‘news’?  We have allowed the mainstream media to control the message to Americans that big government is good; small government is bad.  Lots of spending is good; little spending is bad.  Democrats are good; Republicans are bad.  These people couldn’t wipe their own asses properly if their lives depended on it and they control America’s messaging.  We have kids graduating high school who can’t read or do basic math – they are our future.  We spend billions on public education every year and we have one of the worst records on education in the world.  We have unions continually bullying states for more benefits, higher salaries and less work ethic which causes higher taxes and poor services for the people who are footing the bill.   We have a federal government that has program after program overlap in which none of them know what the hell the other is doing but they’re all getting great salaries and cushy benefits thanks to taxpayer’s hard-earned dollars.  And still  no one does anything to stop the insanity.  We are controlled by 545 men and women who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.  Yes there are a few who seem to genuinely want to fix this very broken system but they can never accomplish that without the rest of the yahoos that are in Congress.

“Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” Thomas Paine

There are a few million people out of the over 300 million in this country who want to fight to break the big government chains that oppress us.  Can we do it?  Have we lost everything because of the millions who would rather sit back and get something for nothing?  Can we do it without the people who care but don’t bother to fight?  As an Independent I have never been a fan of either party nor a fan of the 2 party system but we are stuck with it for now.  The only chance in hell we have of shrinking the government is to force one of the parties to create real changes that put government back in the people’s hands.  Are we so far gone that it’s impossible?  Have we lost everything because so many people were busy living their lives just trying to fight for their American Dream by working hard?  Do we have enough people who love America that they are willing to give up a few hours of their week to inform others of the truth and reason with people as to why big government only hurts Americans?  Frankly I don’t know if they will or we can.  I would bet money that many of you have been able to inform others and change the way they see things.  Think about how well that would work if we had a domino effect.  This isn’t about Democrats and Republicans.  This isn’t about the 545 people who rule this country.  This is about we, the people.  This is about taking back control of the government so that they once again fear us.  This is about fighting tyranny for liberty.  Can we really save America?

“Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature…. If the next centennial does not find us a great nation … it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.”James Garfield, the twentieth president of the United States, 1877

Obama’s Economic “war on women” continues

According to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistic numbers published today, there are now 780,000 women collecting unemployment.  That number continues to rise with no end in sight.  Obama’s economic policies continue to fail and are continuing to hurt women.  There are more women out of the workforce than there were when Obama took office and that number keeps growing as well.  Unemployment for women is at 8% (in Bush’s last month in office it was only at 6.5%).  It’s clear that Obama’s economic “war on women” continues.

The participation percentage rate of women over 16 years old in the workforce is at one of its all-time lows.  The other all-time low since before 2002 was also during Obama’s reign.  It’s currently at 57.8%; the low under Obama was 57.6%.  This means that only 57.8% of women are participating in the workforce out of the 100% that could.  A number even more startling is the fact that almost 4 million women are out of the workforce since Obama took office.  These are women who could be working but are not and are not collecting unemployment.

New Hampshire passes voter ID despite the usual whining from Democrats

Today the Senate and House compromised on their bills and finally passed a voter ID bill that will be in effect for the November 2012 elections.  It’s long overdue that this bill was passed but at least it finally has gotten done and with a veto-proof majority.  Governor Lynch (D) was able to veto the last voter ID that was passed with a simple majority.  Many states are passing voter ID. laws because the majority of voters want these laws in place.  Fully 75%   of voters or more want voter ID. – Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike.  It seems that only the far, far left wing progressives are the ones who do not want voter id.  From the Union Leader:

The House voted 255-103 for a compromise bill requiring photo identification for voters at the polls beginning with November’s general election.

The agreement reached by negotiators combines the Senate and House versions of the bill, with the more lenient Senate version serving as a 15-month transition period and the more restrictive House version in place after Sept. 1, 2013. Voters would be required to present a photo ID at the November general election or sign an affidavit.

766,000 Women out of work but Obama focuses on Paycheck Act

Since Obama took office, 766,000 women have lost their jobs and are no longer in the workforce.  Rather than focusing on jobs to put these women back to work, Obama is pushing his Paycheck Fairness Act.  Even though there are already remedies for women regarding discrimination in pay, Obama and Democrats have decided that they need to clinch the ‘women’ vote so have brought an unnecessary bill into the limelight.  If anything, the Paycheck Act will hurt women more.  It opens up businesses for frivolous lawsuits and will make businesses think twice before hiring women.

Under the Equal Pay Act, women can bring charges against their employers if they feel they have been discriminated against in their pay due to gender.  In 2008 .html there were only 954 cases of gender pay discrimination brought to the Equal Employment Opportunity Center – of those cases 56% were found to have “No Reasonable Cause” – in other words – the EEOC could not find evidence to back up the woman’s claims.  Only 7.9% of the cases were found to have “Reasonable  Cause”, in which case the EEOC will fight to remedy the situation for the complainant.  Of the millions of women who are in the workforce a very miniscule number have actually filed complaints against their employers.  Not because they can’t file the complaints but because they do not feel they are getting discriminated against in their pay.

The truth about Warren gets even worse

Professor Warren’s claims and the facts:

CLAIM:  Professor Warren was part of a group from Harvard that did a study claiming that half of all bankruptcies were due to medical reasons.  Note:  Warren is for government run healthcare i.e., the single payer system.

FACT: There has been years of research that proves the exact opposite of what Professor Warren and her group claimed and Democrats continually used when pushing Obamacare.  From the National Center for Policy Analysis:

The idea that half of all bankruptcies are caused by medical debt has become part of the common folklore. But where did the idea come from? What is the evidence for it? The claim, first made in a 2005 Health Affairsarticle, is at variance with four decades of economic research, including a finding that even large medical bills have no impact on family living standards.

CLAIM: Professor Warren wrote a book in 2003 called “The Two-Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Parents are Going Broke.” In it she “…made the case that income stagnation — caused by failed pro-market policies — is killing the middle class, forcing them to take on ever greater amounts of debt to afford a traditional middle-class lifestyle.”

FACT:  Not only is income inequality another myth  propagated by the Left but incomes were not stagnant when Elizabeth Warren wrote her book.  From The American Enterprise Institute:

Has the middle class stagnated during the past 30 years? I’ve pointed to a pair of Fed studies that show middle-class wages and incomes rising since the 1970s. But CDO disqualify those studies mainly because liberal economist Jared Bernstein says they’re no good. If only there was some economist CDO respected who could back up my claims. Wait, Robert Gordon does! Here is a bit from an email Gordon sent me in 2007:

The correct statement is that correcting the upward bias of the official [consumer price index] adds more than 1 percent per year to official estimates of the growth in median and mean wages. Cumulatively since 1977, my best estimate of the upward bias in the CPI cumulates to 38 percent between 1977 and 2006. Thus if someone came along and said the male median wage adjusted for CPI inflation has been stagnant since 1977, I would translate this into a true 38 percent increase.

And don’t forget brand-new research from University of Chicago’s Bruce Meyer and Notre Dame’s James Sullivan who find that “median income and consumption both rose by more than 50 percent in real terms between 1980 and 2009.”

CLAIM:  Elizabeth Warren not only helped to create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under Obama but has continually claimed she is about protecting consumers.  She’s actually made quite a name for herself in this area.

FACT:  Professor Warren consulted with an insurance company to suppress asbestos claims, hardly a trait of someone who claims to protect consumers.  From The Washington Beacon:

Democratic Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren publicly supports a consumer protection platform, but records show she received more than $100,000 to help suppress personal injury lawsuits against an insurance company accused of misleading the public about the dangers of asbestos.

Warren wrote in a Supreme Court brief on behalf of Travelers that the asbestos victims’ lawsuits were part of a “global strategy developed by the asbestos plaintiffs’ bar.” Warren also criticized the victims’ “enterprising” lawyers. According to Warren:

After a full, contested evidentiary hearing, the bankruptcy court concluded that all of the pending direct action suits against Petitioners violated the 1986 confirmation order, finding as a matter of fact that these new claims were part of a global strategy developed by the asbestos plaintiffs’ bar to put Petitioners ‘in Manville’s chair’ and thereby collect on claims that had already been channeled to the Manville trust. …

And by effectively rewriting a long-final confirmation order (at precisely the time when its enforcement was necessary), the court of appeals gave enterprising plaintiffs’ lawyers an “end run” around a final federal court judgment.

Warren referred in her brief to the court’s responsibility to end “the asbestos litigation crisis.”

Can voters believe anything Elizabeth Warren claims? Part I

Elizabeth Warren is still being questioned about her Cherokee ‘minority status’ claims by reporters but a much bigger pattern of her ‘lies’ emerge when you look at the many things she has said or written even before becoming a Senatorial candidate.  Most voters are unaware of Professor Warren’s continually debunked claims and outright lies because the media is not reporting them.   For Warren to pretend that she wants more regulations and accountability in government, she sure has a lot of explaining to do regarding the false claims she has made and continues to make on a regular basis.  How can voters trust anything Elizabeth Warren claims?

Professor Warren’s claims and the facts:

CLAIM:  Based on family lore, Warren claimed she is part Cherokee.  She ‘checked’ boxes claiming minority status throughout her career and Harvard listed  her as being a ‘minority’ as well.

FACT: There’s no proof that Warren is part Cherokee.  A genealogist  did research and found the following interesting tidbit of information regarding Warren’s family:

… That in a follow up article about Warren’s ancestry he says that Smith Crawford’s husband, Jonathan Crawford, was a member of the Tennessee militia who rounded up Cherokees and herded them into government-built stockades in Ross’s Landing, which is now Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ross’s Landing was a point of origin for the Trail of Tears.

CLAIM: Professor Warren claims that she is not wealthy or not so wealthy that she has millions in investments.

FACT:  Warren is a multi-millionaire who comfortably enjoys being in the top 1%.  From Buzzfeed:

Hard to see how Warren wouldn’t be, by most standards, wealthy, according to the Personal Financial Disclosure form she filed to run for Senate shows that she’s worth as much as $14.5 million. She earned more than $429,000 from Harvard last year alone for a total of about $700,000, and lives in a house worth $5 million.

She also has a portfolio of investments in stocks and bonds worth as much as $8 million, according to the form, which lists value ranges for each investment.

Why Does the Left Continually Support Violent Psychos Like Brett Kimberlin?

In case you haven’t seen the latest, below is a bit from Patterico’s blog regarding convicted felon turned Democrat Left Wing Activist Brett Kimberlin:

What you have just read is a summary. I have lived this daily — literally daily — for almost a year. There are pieces of evidence I didn’t have room to include. There is so much evidence of harassment it would take you weeks to read about it.

What’s more, I know that this post is going to result in more harassment. I will almost certainly be sued, despite my careful efforts to stick to the facts. There will likely be more complaints to my workplace.

And I have a feeling they’ll find creative new ways to try to rip my life apart.

As an aside, I have listened to Brett Kimberlin in court audio, saying he meets with Congressmen on a regular basis. I want to make sure these Congressmen know what he’s doing.

I have appreciated the support I have felt in recent days, with people like Michelle Malkin, Instapundit, Stacy McCain, Ace, and many others stepping up and being willing to take on this topic.

It is my hope that the support of the blogosphere will not melt away after today. Because the harassment will almost certainly live on.

It’s an important battle to take on. And I want to stress that this should not be a partisan issue. I believe Brett Kimberlin uses lefty politics as a tool — but he doesn’t believe any of it in his heart. He is looking for a buck. I have been heartened to see left-leaning people of all stripes stand up to this guy in the past, from Mark Singer, the author of Citizen K; to Ken Ashford, who refused to give up Aaron Walker’s identity; to the left-leaning lawyer who represented Aaron pro bono.

It is my hope that left-leaning blogs will recognize that this is not a partisan issue. It is a free speech issue.

Remember how I said one of my commenters was outed? And this crew started talking about his parents? And his divorce records? For being a commenter of mine?

What happened to me could literally happen to anyone. It could happen to you.

If you take nothing else from this post, remember that. It could happen to you.

Stacy McCain also has a lengthy description of this Democrat psycho Kimberlin:

Kimberlin’s infamous criminal past could scarcely have been a secret to those who funded his organization. Kimberlin became a national political celebrity during the 1988 presidential campaign because of his claim, made while he was still serving time in federal prison, that he had once sold marijuana to Dan Quayle, who was then the Republican candidate for vice president.

Kimberlin offered no proof for that unsubstantiated allegation, but it drew the attention of award-winning journalist Mark Singer. A reporter for the New Yorker, Singer was initially sympathetic to Kimberlin, and the two men split an advance for a book deal to tell Kimberlin’s story. Singer ended the co-authorship deal after he became disillusioned by Kimberlin’s habitual dishonesty. In 1996, Singer published Citizen K: The Deeply Weird American Journey of Brett Kimberlin, which exposed Kimberlin as a “world-class liar” and “first-class con man.”

In fact, according to both Singer and Indianapolis Star reporter Joseph Gelarden, prosecutors suspected a particularly sinister motive for the Speedway Bomber’s terroristic rampage: To distract law enforcement officials who were investigating the July 29, 1978, murder of Julia Scyphers, the grandmother of a pre-teen girl toward whom, Gelarden wrote in 1981, Kimberlin had “strange affection . . . questionable relationship.”

It’s bad enough the Left still support domestic terrorists like Bill Ayers but now they have another one (Kimberlin) to add to their list who is continuing his terrorism only without actual bombs.  The Left has the Black Caucus (actual elected Democrats) visiting that slime Castro in Cuba as if he was so great, they have Left Wingers supporting murderous, cowardly, vile scum Che Guevara all of the time and a lot of groups and Left Wing individuals like Barbara Streisand and John Kerry’s wife supporting organizations that are run by a convicted (CONVICTED, SERVED TIME IN PRISON) domestic TERRORIST, Brett Kimberlin.  There are many more like these examples that the Left supports but I haven’t got all day.  Why do the Left – Many Democrats, Liberals and Progressives – support these violent, psychotic and twisted people?  To a ‘normal thinking’ person there is no justification for supporting these types of people – EVER – whether you are on the Left, the Right or somewhere in between.  The only logical solution I can possibly come up with is that Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Good luck to Patterico, Mandy, Stacy and everyone else.  The great thing is – they STILL haven’t shut you up and they never will.

Senator Shaheen Backs Vile, Despicable BULLY

Senator Shaheen is one of only 13 far left wing Democrats in the Senate to support the ‘It Gets Better’ Project led by the vile and despicable bully Dan Savage.

More from ResistTyranny:

13 Democrat Senators embrace anti-Christian bigotry, bullying
Updated April 29, 2012

In June 2011, thirteen Democrat Senators embraced the “It Gets Better” Project, headed by radical homosexual agitator Dan Savage, also known as Keenan Hollahan. The list of elected co-conspirators reads like a leftist who’s who of the U.S. Senate:

1.Charles “Chuck” Schumer (NY) – @ChuckSchumer
2.Mark Udall (CO) – @MarkUdall
3.Ron Wyden (OR) – @RonWyden or @WydenPress
4.Chris Coons (DE) – @ChrisCoons
5.Richard Blumenthal (CT) – @SenBlumenthal
6.Sherrod Brown (OH) – @SenSherrodBrown
7.Maria Cantwell (WA) – @MariaCantwell
8.Dick Durbin (IL) – @SenatorDurbin
9.Al Franken (MN) – @AlFranken
10.Dianne Feinstein (CA) – @SenFeinstein
11.Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) – @SenGillibrand
12.Jeanne Shaheen (NH) – @SenatorShaheen
13.Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) – @SenWhitehouse

This is just the latest bullying behavior from Savage there’s more from Mediate:

Real Time host Bill Maher thought he had a good soundbite when he compared Congressional Republicans to late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, but was quickly one-upped by “It gets better” LGBT activist Dan Savage, who said “Unfortunately not exactly like him. I wish they were all f**kin’ dead.”

Savage also posted the following disgusting diatribe to Herman Cain again from Mediate:

Dear Herman,

If being gay is a choice, show us the proof. Choose it. Choose to be gay yourself. Show America how that’s done, Herman, show us how a man can choose to be gay. Suck my dick, Herman. Name the time and the place and I’ll bring my dick and a camera crew and you can suck me off and win the argument.

Very sincerely yours,

Dan Savage

This is the type of behavior and people that our elected officials back?  It’s high time for some accountability from our representatives.   Shaheen needs to be called out for her poor choices.

NH Democrats host fake “War on Women” rally

The New Hampshire Democrats hosted a fake “War on Women” rally in Concord yesterday.  According to the site, paid for by the NH Democrats, www.nhwomenunited.org(if you look up the domain registration on whois it was purchased by NH Democrats ) it claims to:  “Help defend women’s rights and pursuit of equality. Join Americans all across the United States on April 28th, 2012, as we come together as one to tell members of Congress in Washington DC and legislators in all 50 states, “Enough is enough!””

Interestingly the only issues their website discusses are abortion and forcing religious entities to pay for birth control.  There is nothing about the extreme poverty rates that women are in under Obama’s economy nor is there anything about the massive numbers of women now unemployed under Obama’s economy.   Of course the fact that this was all funded and created by the NH Democrats isn’t listed anywhere on the website (this is what Nancy Pelosi likes to call “astroturf”).

The rally was nothing more than a campaign push for Obama and other Democrats who have the same big government failed type policies.  Apparently the NH Democrats don’t realize that when polled, the most important issues for women today are jobs and the economy .  As a matter of fact, abortion and birth control are at the very bottom of the issues that are important to voters.  Abortion isn’t going away and birth control is cheap to purchase.  Planned Parenthood isn’t going away and they don’t need taxpayer money to survive.

The Democrats’ failed ‘War on Poverty’ is still failing

In light of the recent scandalous and outrageous EBT fraudulent abuses in Boston and around the state, it’s high time Beacon Hill starts discussing the Democrats’ failed ‘War on Poverty’. In a welfare state such as Massachusetts, where even illegal aliens get free health insurance and housing courtesy of the taxpayers, it’s long overdue to question the feeble attempts by lawmakers to continue the abusive programs that are not helping people and are hurting taxpayers. The original intentions of ‘welfare’ were as a temporary ‘hand up’ to help those who were in desperate need due to circumstances out of their control. That is no longer the case in Boston or anywhere else in the country. Democrats have created an entire segment of society which consists of people (their voting base) who believe that they are entitled to housing, food, clothing and healthcare paid for through the taxes taken from others who actually work for a living. This failed ‘War on Poverty’ is really a War on Taxpayers.
